How do I know whether to choose the Narrow strap or the Wide strap?
The 3pp Toe Loops are designed to fit almost any toe. The Narrow will generally fit the four (4) small toes. The Wide strap is designed to wrap the Big toe and the first small toe together and is also recommended following surgery when bandages or swelling enlarge the smaller toes.
What do I do if I have very small toes and the Narrow is too large?
The Toe Loops can be trimmed with a scissors to make them even more narrow. The length cannot be changed but all you need to do is take an extra wrap around your toes to make them smaller.
How long will these last?
As is true with most splints – the cleaner you keep your Toe Loops, the longer they will last. Simply rinse them in cold water with a little soap, pat them with a towel and lay them flat to dry. How long a Toe Loop lasts does depend on your activity level and if you are using it on a daily basis or just at night to lightly stretch your toes.
Will the Toe Loops "re-train" my toe?
Toe Loops are a simple, comfortable way to re-position your toes if they are crossing over each other, bending upwards in a hammertoe position or rotating or twisting. If your toes have been crooked or angled for a long time, it is not likely a Toe Loop alone will retrain or correct the problem. If the tendons or ligaments have shortened or the bones inside your toes have formed lumps or twisted, surgery may be the only way to permanently correct them.
If, however, you have just started experiencing hammertoes or over or underlapping toes, wearing a Toe Loop and doing some careful stretching exercises may lead to a permanent improvement. You may need to also consider having your doctor or a physical therapist examine your feet, your shoes and how you walk to determine why you have the problems in the first place.
