I don’t play tennis or golf but I have pain around my elbow when I lift things or when I am holding up anything heavy. Will this splint help?
You can have what is commonly called Tennis or Golfer’s Elbow even if you have never lifted a racquet or a golf club. The tendons and muscles in your elbow can be irritated or injured by any repetitive tasks including lifting heavy items, painting overhead or simply carrying heavy bags. The Elbow POP is designed to apply pressure over these tendons and muscles by applying pressure pads where you feel the pain and lets you decide how much pressure you need to relieve your pain. The Elbow POP only applies pressure under the pad, not all the way around your arm so it never compromises circulation.
Please note : The longer you have experienced pain or the more often it returns, the more important it is to see your doctor or a therapist for a proper diagnosis and treatment program. A splint can be very helpful but is only one part of effective treatment.
How tight should the Elbow POP be?
The Elbow POP base sleeve should be applied around your arm with just enough pressure to hold it in place. You should feel pressure over the pain point when you make a fist and move your hand up and down but it should NOT be so tight that you can’t move comfortably. If you feel any tingling in your hand or fingers or feel as your something is “squeezing” your arm, loosen the strap.
Should I use the thinner or the thicker pad?
In general, if you have small, thin arms, you will use the 1/8” pad. If your arms are more muscular or heavier, you are more likely to use the 1/4” pad to feel the proper amount of pressure.
What is the difference between the Elbow POP and the Elbow Wrap?
Both the Elbow POP and the Elbow Wrap are designed to let you apply pressure only where it’s needed, over the tendons and muscles that are irritated or injured. The key difference between the two splints is the Elbow Wrap uses two straps to apply the pressure and the Elbow POP employs foam pressure pads and a strap. The truth is that the Elbow POP is a newer design that we think is a bit easier to apply without losing the function and pain relief the Elbow Wrap has always been known for.
