I fell on my hand a few months ago and I had it x-rayed. They said I didn’t break anything. Now I have pain when I turn my hand over and it makes a clicking sound. Will this splint help me?
The wrist and the ligaments that hold your wrist together and let you move it in a full circle can be injured even though you did not break any bones. This can cause a long-term problem if it’s not diagnosed and treated properly. A fall on your hand may have caused an injury to the cartilage and ligaments that hold and stabilize the joint at the end of your forearm called the Distal Radial Ulnar Joint (DRUJ). The 3pp Wrist POP is designed to stabilize the DRUJ to relieve the pain and weakness you may be experiencing. While the 3pp Wrist POP may offer you relief, if you still feel pain it is strongly recommended that you consult with a hand specialist for a proper diagnosis and treatment.
What is the difference between the 3pp Wrist POP and the Wrist Widget a friend of mine has?
Both the Wrist POP and the Wrist Widget apply pressure to support the end joint (the DRUJ) of your wrist. The Wrist Widget stabilizes the DRUJ using a firm strap that attempts to hold the two bones together when you move your hand up and down or turn your hand over. You can tighten or loosen the strap to apply more of less pressure on both the bones. The 3pp Wrist POP also stabilizes the DRUJ, but by using pressure pads you apply over the end of each bone separately. This allows you to determine how much pressure you need for your level of comfort and function.
Is the material in the Wrist POP itchy or stiff? My skin is very sensitive and I have a hard time tolerating stiff material or Velcro against my skin.
The material in the 3pp Wrist POP is very soft and its lined in a very soft, breathable foam. The pads are foam with hooks that attach onto the strap and then onto the base sleeve. The hook never touches your skin. You get to decide how tight to put the splint on so you can adjust it to your comfort.
I hurt my hand a long time ago and it still hurts when I push on it to get up from a chair. I have a lot of trouble with weight bearing activities, like yoga. Will this splint help?
Wrist injuries that last a long time can be very difficult to treat. The wrist is a very complex group of bones and ligaments and muscles. While a splint may be helpful, consulting with a hand specialist is recommended to see if you tore or disrupted some of the small tendons that hold the wrist bones in place. The 3pp Wrist POP may offer you the stability you need to allow you to weight bear on your hand. You may also want to look at the 3pp Carpal Lift that directs support under the wrist bones on the little finger side of your palm and cushions this area to relieve pain when you push on it. We can’t say for certain what will work better and it may be that you will have to try a few different splints to find out what works best for you.
What do I do if I try the Wrist POP and it doesn’t get rid of my pain?
You should know quickly if the 3pp Wrist POP is going to help reduce your pain. If you try it on and adjust the pads properly and your symptoms don’t change at all, package it back up and return it for a full refund. Please know that if you feel some relief in the beginning, you are likely to feel more relief after wearing the splint for several days or weeks. If you've had pain for a long time, it will take some time to know just how much relief you will get from wearing a splint.
