Whether you need a splint for one Mallet Finger or for multiple Trigger Fingers or Hypermobile joints, having more than one size to choose from is both time and cost effective.
Oval-8 Finger Splints support and protect your fingers and thumb from problems caused by arthritis, injuries or other health conditions. Thin, lightweight and waterproof, Oval-8's are comfortable enough to wear for daily activities and sports.
To get the best results, it's important to measure your finger or thumb accurately. The size difference between each Oval-8 Finger Splint is small, so even slight changes in your finger due to swelling or temperature can affect the fit.

Once you have a measurement, choosing an Oval-8 package is easy. Find your size on the chart below:
Consider these tips when choosing the proper Oval-8 size or range of sizes:
-
Changes in time of day or temperature and where you wear the splint can affect how the Oval-8 fits. Having more than one size is recommended for proper treatment of your finger condition
-
You can adjust the fit of an Oval-8 splint depending on which end goes on first. The end with the + sign on the top of the oval section will fit looser. Turn it around and put the other end on first for a slightly tighter fit
-
Choosing a Multi Size Set with 3 or 5 consecutive sizes will make it more likely you have the right fit for your finger condition now and if your finger changes as it heals

Wear: Oval-8 splints may be worn full time depending on your condition or on an as needed basis without limiting the movement of your hands.
Turning the splint around the finger joint changes how the splint controls finger motion. See the “Oval-8 Splint Guide" for how to position an Oval-8 on your finger for different conditions.
If your finger size changes due to in swelling or different temperatures, Oval-8 splints offer a looser fit when the end with the + Plus sign is slipped on the finger first and a more secure fit by simply turning the splint around to put the other end on first. If I already have a Beige Oval-8 Splint, will the Clear Splint fit and feel the same?
Both the Beige and Clear splints are made from the same molds but are made using a different material. The fit may feel different due to the different surface feel of the two plastics. Both the Oval-8 Beige and the Oval-8 Clear can be adjusted by a health care provider trained in fitting splints. DO NOT attempt to use heat or tools to adjust the splints as any adjustment may deform or break the splints.
How do I know what size Oval-8 I need?
For splints to work effectively, they need to fit correctly. Measuring your finger is necessary to find the correct size Oval-8 Finger Splint. Follow the instructions and watch the video in the Oval-8 Finger Splint Guide for step-by-step instructions.
Please follow each step carefully as where you measure or how tight you wrap your finger may affect your measurement. Page 5 will help you determine what size you need and what mixed size set you may want to consider to find the proper size for your finger.
Where do I measure my finger?

● Mallet (Baseball) Finger

● Boutonniere- bent middle knuckle
● Crooked- middle knuckle

How do I wear the Oval-8 Splint?
How you wear an Oval-8 depends on what problem you are experiencing. Oval-8 splints can be turned around to change how the band and the oval portion control or limit motion. View our Oval-8 Finger Splint Guide or watch our videos to learn how to wear your splint. It is recommend you discuss with how long to wear the splint with your healthcare provider.
How do I know which end of the splint is the looser fit?
Look for the +Plus sign on one end of the oval section of the splint. That will give you a looser fit if you put that end on your finger first. Turn the splint around and put the other end on first for a more secure fit.
If I wear a Gel Tube or band aid under an Oval-8 for extra protection and cushioning, will I need a different size splint?
Yes, if you are wearing a Gel Tube under an Oval-8 or have a bandage on your finger, we recommend you go up 1 to 2 sizes from what you measured. Choosing a Multi-Size Set of 3 or 5 sizes makes this easier to have the correct size you’re finger heals.
What can I do if the Oval-8 is too long or does not fit the way I want it to?
Depending on your condition and the size and length of your finger, the Oval-8 may need to be adjusted to achieve a perfect fit for you. Adjustments should only be made by a healthcare provider trained in custom fitting splints and braces.
How long will Oval-8 Finger Splints last?
Our most truthful answer to this question is that you are most likely to lose them before anything happens to them under normal conditions. By ”normal conditions” we mean don’t step on them, don’t attempt to adjust Oval-8 splints yourself and don't bend them. As we have just introduced the Oval-8 CLEAR splints in 2023, we can tell you they work the same as the Beige splints but we can’t say yet how long they’re expected to last. HINT: Put your splint in the same place each time you remove it to make it easy to find.
What can I do if my finger swells and I have trouble getting the splint off?
The best option for making any splint or ring easier to put on or take off is to spray your finger with window cleaner. We recommend Windex but most any window cleaner has an ingredient that loosens the tension between your finger and the splint. Bend your finger slightly and keep your finger relaxed as you remove the splint.
