My thumb only hurts when I am holding a pen or opening a bottle. Will this splint help?
The 3pp ThumSling is highly recommended when you need occasional support to relieve pain during activities that require strong gripping or prolonged pinching. The splint is easy to put on and take off so you can keep it in your pocket or purse when it’s not needed.
How do I know what size I need?
The splint is sized by measuring around your hand at the level of your big knuckles. Because the straps can attach anywhere on the splint, it is very adjustable. In general, women with small to “average” size hands will wear the small/medium. Men with average to large hands and women with large or heavy hands will wear a medium/large.
Will this splint help my carpal tunnel syndrome?
The 3pp ThumSling does not support or limit wrist motion and will not relieve symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. This splint is best for those who have occasional thumb pain at the CMC joint or whose pain is relieved with light support when pinching or twisting.
This splint looks very light. Will it really help or do I need something to keep my thumb from moving?
The soft foam lining in the 3pp ThumSling effectively holds the thumb to support the CMC joint without stopping you from being able to use your hand. If your pain is severe or constant, then a thumb splint that offers firm support or prevents your thumb from moving is more appropriate. Please look at thumb splints that offer higher levels of support such as the ThumSling NP (moderate support).
