CMCcare Thumb Brace

i have tried 3 types of cmc brace and this one works the best and most reliably. it also fits under work gloves. it's great in hot weather when my hands tend to get sweaty. i can change the cloth insert daily & it keeps my skin from staying damp. the other two braces don't 'breathe' as well as this one. just wish it weren't as costly, but it is the best one. in my opinion.

I highly recommend these braces they hold my CMC joints in place for stability. Haven’t had any surgery yet, these are my lifesavers. The service is very quick. Thank you very much

Provides support for sore thumb joints while allowing you freedom of movement. I purchased one for each thumb. I also wear them at night to give even more relief to my thumbs.

After 2 surgeries, I needed support for my thumb and CMC. This brace added the stability I needed as well as providing relief. I highly recommend this brace.

I like the fit of the brace, and I was glad they included the fabric liner. However, when the velcro is wrapped around so it holds the brace snugly, its stiffness digs in and irritates that part of my hand. Not a huge deal, but enough to take it off 5 stars. Other than that, I was pleased.

I've only used this thumb brace a couple weeks but have found it helps when I'm writing, which is usually very painful. The brace is comfortable & very minimal, easy to forget you have it on even.

Love it and provides support for my recent CMC replacement surgery when biking. Love the adjust-ability of it and getting an extra strap. 

My 1st brace lasted 2 years wearing 24/7!l I bought 2nd on 04/05/24 .. unfortunately it is too small. Not returnable because I wore it. Today I ordered 3rd brace.

This brace is comfortable and supportive, but the palm side loop has broken twice! I am on my 3rd brace. I have another brace that doesn't break, but is not as comfortable. I wish the loop was more sturdy!

Surgery has been recommended by two different specialist but I decided to try this brace. For the first time in months I am able to dress, close buttons, open cans, etc. It's comfortable and I have full use of my fingers. I can also cook which has made my husband very happy!

Great comfort and support, however I've now broken the second loop on the brace. I loved the ease of use and the ability to keep the sleeves clean. The first brace broke on the first day of use. The second lasted from mid August to April. I'm assuming that they are having issues with the product, so I will try another brace. I do recommend the company they are great to business with.

I have found this splint to be very supportive to my cmc joint when I am doing activities like housework and yardwork. Unfortunately I left it behind in a restroom when I removed to wash my hands. It is very durable. I have to replace the straps every few month because I wear out the velcro. Will continue to use until I have surgery.

This item is very uncomfortable to wear. It actually digs into my thumb. I can’t wear it for very long each day. Because of the return policy, I’ll lose postage to ship it back, and money on a restocking fee. So, I’ve wasted money on a very expensive item.

Just ordered a back-up thumb brace... it makes such a difference to continue doing all the things I love, with less pain on my "bad hand"!

Helps thumb pain, but you can still hold a mouse, type, workout, etc easily. Washable. Wish it came with two fabric liners though because when you wash the liner, you have to just wear the plastic on your skin while the liner dries and it makes you sweat!

Wearing for three months. I'm very active but not putting undue stress on brace. Wearing for CMC joint support. The slit through which the strap goes through broke while pushing an empty shopping cart while shopping. Now have it held together with Duck tape while looking for similar design brace- hopefully with quality material.

This is the second cmccare thumb brace I have purchased. I bought the first one before my first OT appointment to see if the therapist thought it would be helpful. She told me that I purchased the very brace she would recommend & called it the "Rolls Royce" of braces. LOL. I now have one for both hands, and they really help tremendously. Great support. I'm very happy with my purchase.

The thumb brace is very comfortable, after I made a few adjustments. The thumb cut-out was not big enough because of my rheumatoid arthritis. The single strap is excellent, because it minimizes pinching when I'm exercising.

I started to cross stitch again after about 20 years away from it. Within only 1.5 years of starting my thumbs were aching. So much so, that I couldn't hold a cup in my hands. I would literally drop the cup. I couldn't operate a can opener or even do basic tasks. I stopped cross stitching for over 2 years. I've tried several different store bought braces. I've gone to see the doctor about my thumbs and have X-Rays done, the whole routine. I even had specialized braces made for me from a physical therapist that cost $1,000. They were made of hard plastic and were extremely uncomfortable. I couldn't wear them for more than 2 minutes if I wanted to do anything. They immobilized my thumbs as do most of the braces I have tried. These CMCcare Thumb Braces are the best! I can do anything in these. The other day I was cross stitching in these and had absolutely no pain at all afterwards! They also keep my from bending my thumb backward too much which also causes me pain. I'm hoping they last a good while. Definitely worth the money!

The thumb brace works as expected. helps relieve pain and is comfortable to wear. CON: purchased 1/3/24 - after about 3 weeks after wearing the brace the velcro strap is constantly 'flapping off'. It catches in the bed linens and I am having to constantly re-adhere the strap. It would help if a small loop was on the strap to slide the strap into help prevent the strap from coming off. Rating is a 3 star because of the annoying not functioning very well strap.

Have been using a brace on my thumb for quite a while. This is the most effective, comfortable,, and economical I have found!

These braces (I must be on my 4th pair) are the only things that keep me from having pain due to arthritis in the base of both thumbs. They're comfortable to wear and you can do almost everything while wearing them. Easy to wash. My only wish is that velcro straps would last longer.

I have ordered every type of brace/splint. I am trying to prevent from having surgery, so far so good. I went from the Prima thumb brace also got the fix comfort. Both work but I have to take off due to work. So last resort is CMC brace. I ordered a small as I was between sizes, had to send back and get a medium. Just put on a couple hours ago~ I can tell a difference. Will update after a couple weeks.

I'm losing my right thumbs due to Ehler's Danlos and osteoarthritis. I do a lot of computer work and use it for the throttle on an ATV. This brace does a great job of stabalizing this joint and releives the pain. It is very comfortable and not as restrictive as some braces so it stays on much longer. Very pleased.

My OT recommended a brace like this, and I mistakenly ordered this thinking it was the same one she recommended because the photos and look were almost the same as the name brand one she recommended. Despite ordering the proper size for my hand, it was very oversized and the rigid portion wouldn’t mold to my hand as advertised. It also has hard edges that would have certainly given me pressure sores. I could immediately tell it wouldn’t be comfortable, even if it was a better fit. I’ve requested a return and hope to get a refund, as I’m very disappointed. I don’t really understand the positive reviews because I found the quality lacking.

Better by far than any other for helping my basal joint osteoarthritis. Easy to use, pain reducing, comfortable.

I have tried several other braces and this is the best.

I was skeptical so I just ordered one for my worst hand. It fits perfectly, does not impede movement of my fingers, and gave support and relief immediately. So, I ordered one for my other hand and hope to be able to get back to doing more of my arts and crafts, especially knitting!! Priceless.

This brace is worth every penny. I cannot tell you how many different braces or typing gloves I have tried. This one is the best! I am probably looking at surgery (ortho appt next week), but this is helping me function in the interim. Highly recommend!

I have only had the brace for a week, but noticed a big relief the very first day I put it on I am a working guitar player, and my arthritis was threatening my ability to continue playing. I can actually play with the brace on and it does not inhibit my flexibility in any way. So far so good! At the very least,I have put off surgery for a while.

I bought this to prevent thumb arthritis pain while lifting weights. It works beautifully! I have a weightlifting glove that protects the entire hand. I slide the CMCcare Thumb Brace over the thumb part of the glove and strap it on. It fits perfectly, stays in place, and really helps.

My highly credentialed orthopedic hand specialist recommended this brace after seeing the simple, inexpensive thumb stabilizer brace that I was using. It is definitely lower profile, covering much less of the hand and wrist and allows for more movement in the thumb while stabilizing the CMC joint. Well worth the price!

I have had several surgeries on both hands, 1 hand carpal tunnel release & both thumbs for dequarvains release, I got a little relief, I'm told I have stage 2 arthritis in both my thumbs, I'm on arthritis meds daily & still have been in tears hurting, I took a chance & ordered this brace, was very doubtful it would work bc i should own stock in all the braces I've tried, but within the first few days I saw a dramatic difference in my thumb, cmc joint especially, every other brace I've tried never supported the cmc joint, I love the freedom my hands still have while wearing it, the only thing I don't like is the strap, it kind of cuts into my hands, I did make me a soft guard for the strap & it seems to work perfectly. If you have cmc joint arthritis I would highly recommend this brace, light weight, comfortable and worth every penny of what they are charging. 10 out of 10

I bought one for each hand. Amazing how much it cushioned my thumbs from pain of everyday tasks. I'm also a bike rider which can cause pain during long rides with steep downhill braking. The thumb braces cradled my thumbs perfectly.

I love doing business with this company, they always ship orders VERY promptly and they stand behind their products. I have previously purchased other thumb braces from this company but after six or eight months of constant wearing the velcro would no longer hold as well. I came back to order another brace and saw this one featured and saw that the velcro was replaceable so I purchased one. I found it extremely comfortable, I love it. It gives me great support. The first one I purchased was apparently defective and it failed after only a few short hours of use. I contacted the support team and they rushed a replacement to me within hours of my contacting them. This is a great brace and an even greater company to purchase from.

I bought the CMCcare Thumb brace for my right hand in October 2019. I bought the same CMCcare Thumb brace for my left hand in early June 2023. I could have used a hand brace but that meant I would have to give up sleeping with my Fitbit on my wrist now that I needed to stabilize the left-hand CMC joint as well as the right one. The CMCcare Thumb brace was the perfect solution.

This brace has made my yard work nearly pain free by stabilizing my thumbs. It keeps them in the right position while still allowing all the flexibility that I need .

This gives great thumb support and still gives your wrist the ability to move so it doesn’t stiffen. I wish it came with another liner because I already lost the one it came with but I should have kept it together in the awesome bag it came with! I love that it comes with extra Velcro!.

This brace seemed to not support my thumb where I needed it, while also constructing it so much that it made the joint pain a lot worse. It also wasn’t shaped in a way that it could sit over the base of my thumb without digging in very painfully.

This brace has helped my hand tremendously. I have arthritis in that joint and it is extremely painful. I’ve been getting it injected every three months on the dot. I used a different price in the past which did not help to reduce the pain. This brace worked so much better, and is very comfortable. I wear to do as much as I can. However, I am an infusion nurse, and cannot wear it at work.

I have experienced pain at the base of my left thumb for over a couple of years due to arthritis. It has impacted my activities and find it difficult to do many things that out pressure at the base of my thumb. Lifting free weights, and certain yoga moves were especially painful or impossible. Since I starting using this thumb brace, it’s a game changer and now can do all of the things I enjoy without pain. The brace is rigid and supportive, and protects that vulnerable part of my hand.

I have RA & has now affected both my thumbs. This brace stabilizes that thumb very well yet still allows me to work which is great!

This thumb brace works well until it doesn't. I have 2 of these thumb braces and after only a year or so the gripper is no longer gripping. I went through both replacement straps and grip tabs and am now being told I need to buy, for $15, new straps. This isn't right after such a short time. I didn't do anything wrong to make them fail so soon, and for the original price feel that the replacement straps should be free.

My hand surgeon recommended it since I have osteoarthritis at the base of my left thumb. It helps with the pain so much and gives my hand strength to do daily tasks.

I have severe CMC arthritis in both hands. I am an avid gardener, and was not able to do the things that I liked in the garden. I purchased 2 of these braces and was able to garden without pain! I am still sore afterwards, but the support and protection offered is excellent!I highly recommend!

I had been using the "other" brand for years, which worked OK. I put your thumb brace on as soon as I received it and love it! It fits better, is more comfortable, and simply works well. I love the fact you sent and extra strap and end piece. I haven't used the soft sleeve yet but certain it will also be helpful. Thank you so much! I have newly diagnosed moderate CMC arthritis. I have grinding and the joint slips out of place with any activity. I am very active with my hands going to the gym, riding a bike, cooking etc. All of that was causing pain. I had cortisone injections, OTC braces, custom static splints. I have small hands and all of the OTC options were a little too big and didn't quite fit right. And I wasn't able to freely type, write, cook, lift weights. I finally decided to give the CMC brace a try (size small). I put it on and adjusted it as soon as it arrived. I had to cut a couple inches off the strap, trim the liner and add some moleskin inside the brace to cushion the CMC joint that is already enlarged. . After that, I was able to open a bottle of water, carry a cup of coffee, cook a full meal WITHOUT PAIN. I'm too young to consider surgery so this brace will be what I need for quite a while. Hope it continues to help with stabilizing the joint and keeping the pain to a minimum. I will wear it during the day with activity and wear an OTC brace at night. Thank you so much OMA!

I didn't make it a day. Even with the cushion, it hurt. The plastic is so hard. I am not keeping it. Quality seems fine though.

I have tried a number of different thumb braces and so far, this one is the best. It fits well and gives me more freedom of movement with less pain than any of the others. It's comfortable for me without the liner but I am happy to have that, just in case, and I appreciated the replacement parts being included. I've been using this for a couple of weeks now, and I have noticed that I don't have to wear it 24/7. When the thumb is killing me, I put it on, and as a general rule, the thumb will feel better for hours after removing it. That has not happened with any of the other braces I tried. May be in my head, for all I know, but I am happy to have the pain relief. I would recommend this without hesitation. Yes, it's pricey. To me, it's worth it.

This does support the joint and protect it while giving full range of motion to your hand and fingers. I now wear it to stabilize and support the joint when I am doing heavy chores and wear it under my work gloves. It is quite expensive for what you get. My doctor showed it to me on the computer screen, so I was aware of the cost. I do recommend it because it does help. You need to be aware not to wear it for several hours in the beginning. Build up your tolerance to it. Your joint may hurt more in the beginning because this device is immobilizing the joint. Take Tylenol or ibuprofen it this happens. Soon you will be able to wear it more often and for as long as you need.

I bought the splint on the recommendation of my orthopedist. The strap that goes around the hand sticks up at the end and I have to tape it or it gets caught on everything and rips open. When I asked for help from customer service, they said to use the replacement strap that came with the brace. I got no such strap. Not worth the money for me.

I have only had my brace for a week and I am noticing a big difference. I have tendonitis in both thumbs and I suspect a bit of arthritis creeping in and my doc recommended the brace. I purchased for just my right hand so I could try it out. But I will be getting another for my other hand soon! What a relief!

It works great! After trying other products, I was skeptical, but now wearing the thumb brace, the pain is hardly noticeable!

I had a lot of pain!  The CMCcare helps me so much.  I use it most of the time.

I came to this website after having been locally fitted by a therapist with a custom splint for my cmc arthritis. The custom splint really limitted the use of my right hand, so I went to the web for other solutions. I have worn this CMCCare spint for about a month now. I like its sturdiness, and it does protect my cmc joint. I do wish that it fit me a little better. I have small, thin hands but long fingers, and the medium size splint does cover the cmc joint, but the thumb opening is too big for my hand and I wish the splint would extend down a little farther to cover the whole carpal joint as I have arthritis there too. I wish they made splint that would solve this issue.

Brace is helping after one week of use. Stabilizes joint, is comfortable and allows for nearly full use of thumb. Well-made.

Love that you can purchase accessory items for this splint. When the Velcro goes, you can get much more life from the splint. The splint is also very comfortable with a sleeve. With extra sleeves, it’s possible to wear one, wash one”. I like this splint system much more than push metagrip - more comfortable and practical.

I just ordered my first cmc thumb care brace from Ohmyarthritis. It’s awesome. So much better than the other brand I was using because it has removable velcro and cloth pieces that can be washed. I also ordered so additional pieces do I could replace worn out parts over time. This is made really well and I suspect this is going to last much longer for me. I was on my 6th purchase of the other brand and they did not last. I think this will be much better value for the money.

I love this splint. Fits well and I can do most things while wearing it. It has really helped relieve pain and swelling. I can sleep w it or just use during the day, taking on and off as needed

This brace is relatively comfortable. The pain in my CMC joint is definitely less. Glad that I purchased it. This device came highly recommended from an Occupational Therapy Profesor who deals with a lot of healthcare professionals with the same issue.

This is the second brace I've ordered. The first was from a big online store. This one came with an extra lining and strap and only took 3 days to arrive. That is impressive and will continue to order from you in the future.

I've been using it for about 3 days now. has taken some getting used to and does restrict some movement. also, if I try to grab something too tightly, I can feel the metal inside pressing hard against my thumb, so I highly recommend using the include cloth pad. I think I can get used to it though, and I do think it helps avoid some of the pain, so much so, I decided to order one for my left hand, too.

I just received this today and to be truthful, I am not sure it will work for me. I might still have to opt for the steroid injection. However, the product came very quickly and arrived much sooner than expected. It was wrapped carefully and correctly! Excellent job "Oh My Arthritis.

Wearing the thumb brace really helps minimize pain. If you have thumb arthritis, I encourage you to try this.

Very comfortable even without cushion. Stabilizes joint very well while allowing hand and finger movement. I tried three of the top fabric stabilizers and none of them were firm enough. I’m a nurse and I also sew a lot, so I use my hands all the time. This allows me to do my activities without pain and it cleans easily. Expensive, but necessary and effective, and that’s why they can charge so much. I highly recommend.

The replaceable strap is better than the integrated Push brace straps. Also the single strap is easier to put on. The shape of the brace is not quite as optimum as Push.

After wearing another brace, I was attracted to this smaller, less bulky brace. I have worn it constantly since it arrived! Very comfortable, cool, and supportive. I love it.

Good for people with arthritis in the thumb. My husband hand writes a lot in his law practice and over the years it has become painful. His occupational therapist recommended this product and it works well.

After reading the reviews, I decided to order a thumb brace for my left hand. It has helped me so much that I ordered one for my right hand. The brace is much better than the one I had made from my OT.

This brace has made it possible for me to finish the baby blankets I started for my great granddaughters. It is a quality product and I’m thankful to have it.

This brace is the best! It stabilizes my thumb better than the brace from my orthopedist. This brace has extra Velcro straps to help stabilize the thumb and a strap to help put the brace around the wrist. I would give it 10 stars!

 

Hand surgeon recommended this and it helps with a loose thumb joint

Doctor recommended this brace and this company. Super fast service. This is actually the second brace I ordered. Been extremely satisfied. Highly recommend the brace and ohmyarthritis!

I wear these bands on both of my hands and recently lost the one for my left hand (ouch!). When the new one arrived, I realized how worn the Velcro was on the right hand band, especially the very end of the band with the hard plastic tab. I replaced the end with the substitute end and was amazed at how much more comfortable it was. It also does not catch on things as much. Switch them if you have not - you may be very pleased with the results.

I was wearing a wrist/thumb stabilizer but it was bulky and obtrusive and didn't always stabilize the CMC joint at the base of the thumb. I tried wrapped gauze with holes cut for my thumbs. It worked much better. Then I searched the internet for the closest thing to my gauze improvisation that would last longer and look better. I saw this brace and could immediately tell it was designed to do what my gauze bandage was doing. It worked perfectly. I should be able to keep these thumb joints for a lot longer.

I am a retired physical therapist and developed CMC in my left thumb about a year ago. I tried another brace but the angle of “pull” did not stabilize the joint, but this one did. I just purchased one for my right thumb. I don’t use the liners and they are still comfortable. For those with discomfort, just line the inside with small pieces of “sticky” craft felt or Moleskin that you use in shoes.

I have experienced pain beginning in my right thumb for years. It finally stopped hurting and then my left thumb started giving me issues. I am left handed so this is a major problem. I researched and finally found this brace. It has been a life saver! I am pain free while wearing this brace and even when I take it off I don’t experience the pain I was having. The fit was perfect for me. I did have to cut the strap to make it shorter but now it fits “like a glove”! I would definitely recommend this brace.

Push advantage: plastic wraps around hand a little better, I’m hoping Basko edge will flatten out. Both are low profile but Push is slightly less bulky due to less velcro. Basko advantage: REPLACEABLE strap, so you don’t have to buy another splint when the velcro wears out.Spare new strap plus thumb sock. Would be nice if the sock could fit around hand and not just the thumb. Basko comes in a fabric pouch so you can take it with you. Both items are worth the price, $ difference is minimal, restraint is limited to affected joint so other joints don’t stiffen, but due to the replaceable strap, I’d choose Basko again. (Fyi, don’t give it away after LRTI recovery bc your thumb may still get overworked.)

Perfect fit and has really helped with the pain by keeping my thumb less mobile.

CMC hit my left thumb out of the blue. I first bought a bigger brace, but felt that it restricted my movement. This one is great. I bought the extra kit with strap & cozy as well. Very clever velcro straps.

The brace is helping and is so much more comfortable and less restrictive than the brace my doctor gave me. I do sometimes have to remove it after many hours because the rubber rubs. I’m thinking of getting another for my left hand. I would love it if it were available in beige. It would almost disappear while wearing.

Basal thumb osteoarthritis .. much pain.. ortho recommended .. skeptical but it has been a miracle for pain relief, long term pain relief. Have purchased 2..awesome product ..

I bought this brace a couple of weeks ago. It seemed to work well and it wasn't bulky. Unfortunately I dropped it on the ground and didn't realize it, and my dog chewed it enough so it doesn't work well anymore!!

Its a good fit but the strap is too long and makes it awkward to use

Worth the investment as, unfortunately, I have severe pain in both thumb joints. Waterproof, I am able to wear these for household and outdoor chores and hobbies. I know can turn a door knob. Chart provided the exact measurements for a perfect fit on both hands. Very easy to adjust and cut the straps for wearing

I wouldn't have minded paying over $100 for such a small "brace" but it did not fit well enough. I have very small, thin hands and based on a discussion I had with their support, we figured medium would be best option. The thumb hole is very large. The bottom of the brace does not cover the entire area where the pain is and I didn't think a large would work. This was like the 5th brace I purchased for De Quervains tendonitis so I just gave up.

I have a cabinet full of thumb braces and this is the first one that I have found to help me with the CMC joint damage I have severe osteoarthritis of the hands and now showing up in the wrist. It decided to give this a try although pricey it works!! Within two days my wrist felt much better. It’s very comfortable and after four or five days almost not noticeable that you’re wearing it. It’s easy to drive with as well. The reason I did not get five stars without the Velcro strap is not sticking and I’ve only been wearing it for six days. I called the company and was informed that they do send another strap with it. Maybe that’s why they sent two because the Velcro is not the best quality. It would come off during sleep and I’m having to constantly press it together. Hopefully they can make it a better quality stronger Velcro material. Overall it’s a very good product for controlling the pain if you don’t mind replacing the strap every couple of weeks. I asked the company how much they charge to replace the straps and they have a three straps come in a package for about $15.

I bought two brands of braces for my terribly painful CMC joint. They were both helpful, but I like this one better. The single strap works better for me than a double strap, and the liner makes it surprisingly comfy. After 3 weeks in the brace, I'm almost back to normal.

I ordered and quickly recieved the thumb brace. Unfortunately it did not fit. I returned the brace as per enclosed instructions and am awaiting the refund. Easy process.

When do I get my, okay I've bought 3 because they rock, discount?!😀😀😀

I bought this brace for my husband. He says it significantly reduced his very high pain level in his thumb. He liked it so much we bought it for a friend suffering from the same ailment.

Bought this to use while remodeling and golfing. Was hoping it would reduce the pain. Boy was I pleased that it was so effective and comfortable that I forgot I was wearing it. Strongly recommend if you’re irritated by pain while doing physical activities.

I purchased the medium size thumb brace because of severe thumb arthritis in my right hand. The pad at the base of my thumb was twice the size of my left hand. It was painful to do anything, but especially trying to squeeze the clothes hanger clips to the point I had to ask my husband to do it for me. Within 3 days of wearing the brace with the liners, the swelling had gone down and I was able to do so many things i had given up doing for myself because of pain. I now wear it during the day when working It was a Godsend! Be sure to get the extra liners for when they get wet. Also I put latex gloves in the drawer next to the sink to cover it while doing dishes.

Fits well and securely. Smaller and better designed than others. Gives good support for the thumb.

I've only had the brace for about a week, am still experimenting. I think I may have been better off buying a brace with more cushioning and made of softer materials. Also, I'd have to invest in much larger gloves to fit over the brace without catching on the strap. Really fast shipping and excellent quality!

I am a 40 year basketmaker and was in need of a more supportive brace. The Basko CMCcare thumb brace fit the bill.

It does it's job well. It seems sturdy, I haven't had it long and I rotate between 3 different ones. This is a good brace and I have already recommended it to several people I know. Thank you

I purchased both this and the Push model at the same time to compare. The stiff plastic portion on the Push extends further across the palm and I felt that it forced the thumb more into the palm which was not comfortable to me. The Basko CMCcare, with the shorter stiff plastic piece, is more comfortable to me. Both seem well-made. The Basko gives more leeway for sizing — the push is more specific and has more sizes to choose from, but is not customizable, whereas the Basko is. The Basko also came with an extra strap. The Basko has a single strap 2cm wide, whereas the push strap divides in 2 as it crosses the back of the hand. I found the Basko more comfortable all around, and much easier to put on than the Push. I highly recommend comparing the two side-by-side. 

I was looking for a brace that allowed for some movement, yet was supportive and comfortable. This brace offers all those features and it’s adjustable strap allows for differences in size within each identified brace size. Also it’s support around joint is adjustable.

I type quite a bit and this brace permits me to type and has helped with the pain quite a bit. Only complaint is that there is a liner that comes with it. I just wish there were two of them so I can have one in the wash. You can order more but it comes with other items and it is $14.

Both of my hands have hurt so bad I though I was going to end up submitting to surgery to be able to work. My uncle suggested I try this before going under the knife. Since they were more costly I bought This brace saved me from surgery just the left hand first. What a mistake! I should have bought both! The pain went away. It was just the support I needed. Needless to say I ordered the right away.

I have a home based quilting business and found the constant use of the rotary cutter and controls of my long arm machine were causing problems with my right thumb. The brace has really helped ease the pain.

Great Customer Service. Had a small problem. They quickly sent replacements covered under warranty, no questions asked.

Along with joint protection techniques, these splints are very helpful at reducing stress to my CMC joints in both hands. I almost sent the left one back but gave the sleeves a try which improved my wearing tolerance a great deal. I like that these splints can be modified by an OT to improve the fit as well.

I have arthritis in both thumbs & bought one of these for each. I wear them while doing cross stitch and other needlework. They really help keep my hands from hurting.

This is a lifesaver for me and has really increased my function. I have CMC arthritis and this brace stabilizes that joint without restricting the movement in the rest of my hand. I love it! It also disperses pressure so I can use it to bike and kayak without my joint getting pushed out of joint and hurting. It has really expanded my ability to function.

Arthritis in the base joint of my thumb. This restored about 80% of pain-free function. I install cabinets for a living and this is taking the abuse very well!

I have had problems with bilateral CMC joint pain for years. I have tried countless braces that were bulky and uncomfortable. These are amazing! Helpful

Unfortunately this does not work for me. It just doesn’t restrict the movement of my thumb enough. I can move it back too much.

I am an artist and experience stabbing pain at the base of both thumbs. I first ordered the right hand brace to see if it worked before ordering the left one. I'm not sure how it works, but it does. I ordered the left hand brace after two weeks. I am very happy with the results and can wear them under my latex gloves when painting.

This is 5 * brace.... I love there's no need to take off to wash my hands. I wore it 24 hrs a day at first but my thumb feels better so I remove it at night now. I had a pretty good brace with Velcro but taking off for hand washing was tiresome and it was hot to wear this summer. I hardly remember I have this one on. Worth the extra cost. Happy to find this site.

I have CMC arthritis in my thumb and found this brace to be supportive and comfortable enough to wear all day. I would buy it again.

An occupational therapist recently recommended two products for my thumb joint arthritis pain. I chose this one because it will fit under my gardening gloves. After a month of wearing it on my left hand and seeing a reduction in pain, I bought one for my right hand, too.

I’ve had pain at the base of both my thumbs for a few years. I recently had X-rays and it was found that I have mild arthritis in both thumbs. I’ve used cheaper braces In The past. I decided to invest in one of these braces to try for my right hand and have been really happy with it. I like that I can easily wash my hands while wearing it. Yesterday I vacuumed and mopped and the hand that I was wearing the brace felt really good and the other hand didn’t. I ordered another brace for the left hand too.

I have arthritis both hands. Right hand is more painful then left. First I bought meta grip for my right hand and I decided to try Basko brace for left. Compere these two: Fit in my hand Meta grip is perfact.( I have a small size both. Basko is a litte big still) But I like Basko for more flaxibility.

I like this one-and I’ve tried many! Fits well on both hands. Comfortable. Easy on and off. Good pain relief. Good support. Easy to sleep in. I wear one on each hand.

I am so happy my orthopedic doctor turned me on to these! I wear them all the time, even to bed. Which is why I found them online at ohmyarthritis so I could get more pairs. It makes the pain go away while I'm wearing them. They're really supportive and comfortable. They don't get in the way of anything I'm doing, even typing fast on a keyboard. 1) it works for all day use. 2) the strap is replaceable,, so I don't have to keep buying a new brace when the velcro fails, 3) I can wear it with gloves for gardening, work, or winter, 4) I can wear it to bed, 5) I can keep it clean by washing or UV sterilization. The things I don't like about it: A) it's not ideal for yoga or pushups because of its rigidity (my soft brace works for this) B) I wonder how my skin will react in the long term with the constant moisture (from sweat and work) that is trapped all day, since the material doesn't breathe C) the price is a bit high (but that will amortize because I don't have to buy a whole new one when velcro fails)

Best CMC joint thumb brace by far. Comfortable, stabilizing and you hardly know you are wearing a brace. Fantastic that you can purchase addition strap, liners and claps. I wear the brace day and night. This brace has allowed me to avoid surgery and has diminished 98% of the pain from the arthritis in by CMC joint. I highly recommend this product and promise you wont be disappointed. Purchased two for my brother who is in construction. One for work and one for when he is not working. He too is amazed at the difference this brace has made.

These braces are preventing me from having surgery with a long recovery period. They allow me to do my gardening , needlework and household chores without discomfort.

Bought one looking for a miracle cure. First of all - If you buy one, watch the product video. It provides critical information that adds immensely to the effectiveness of this product. The injection molding (left & right hand times the 3 offered sizes = 6 manufacturing molds) has obviously caused the company to price these as much as 2 times higher than textile based (fabric) products with sewn in metal supports. The appreciable difference was questionable at first but now that I'm implementing the "pinch" fitting suggestion more attentively, I admit that it does work better than I thought for my particular CMC issue. Operative term is "better" - even a small difference is important to someone who wants to eliminate thumb joint pain and movement issues. Though I didn't like the sticker price, I do like having this brace as an option when doing data entry or shooting hoops when needing a solution that isn't bulky or restrictive. Get one - add it to your arsenal. The results are definitely noticeable!

I have thumb & index finger pain at the base of the thumb running up to the index finger. I took a shot in getting and trying this product. Happy to say it really helps me after a round of golf or a few sets of tennis. I’m 76 and it’s a God send.

I am 50ish and have really bad CMC arthritis in one hand. I get injections every 4 months or so which never last more than a month. I am very active and do a lot of outdoor activities including yard work. I have tried every brace imaginable and hate wearing them because they are bulky and restrict movement. I bought this brace as a last resort before opting for surgery. I am completely amazed at how well it works! I can do nearly anything I want now and even forget I have it on. The support it gives me is unmatched. I can do yard work, grab things without fear of pain and even wear gloves with it. My swelling has also diminished significantly. I do recommend buying a size up if you have a lot of swelling like I did. I also bought a second one after realizing how much this helps. It's also very well made and easy to clean.

I have an arthritic thumb and this brace is light and helps my issue. I know it helps because when I take it off, I can feel the difference. It’s also nice and light.

This product is so much better for me than the higher priced competition. It fits my hand better so it's able to control the movement of the CMC joint. I also love how comfortable the strap is. The other brand had a plastic lining on the strap that was causing nerve pain issues on the back of my hand. I was very hesitant to spend money on another expensive brace, but I'm so glad I did.

I (my hand) can’t function w/o wearing this. I have one slightly different from another company and really like the single soft replaceable strap and option of the liner on this one.

I went to my doctor due to severe pain in my CMC joint on my right hand. I had surgery for the same problem on my left hand and knew that I would in a cast for 6 weeks following surgery - which I was not looking forward to since I still work. My doctor suggested I get a CMC brace in order to hold off on surgery until after I retire. I ordered this brace on a Friday and received it on the following Wednesday. I LOVE this brace. I have full use of my right hand and the lower thumb joint is immobilized and no longer causing pain. I can now write with my right hand with no pain. The brace is comfortable and well made. I plan to order another one of these for a backup. I saw my doctor again after I received my brace - and he was jealous because this brace is much nicer than the one he was wearing. I sent him the name of this website so that he can order one himself. I highly recommend this brace!

I have arthritis and I need to protect my left thumb that’s why I used the CMC care left thumb brace, gel mate pad for cushion the brace and 3pp liner adjustable velcro strap for everyday use in my work 5x a week. I used medium size for awhile but decided to order large. Glad I did. Life saver. Order your correct size. You can use your HSA/FSA. I highly recommend.

The PT office had some braces for sale but they were close to $100. I found this one online. It works great and I especially like the little sleeve to cushion the plastic. Easy to adjust and overall a great purchase for about $30 less than the place where I go for PT. Highly recommended!

After spending a lot of money on a brace custom fitted by an OT which broke within a few weeks, I looked for something that was comfortable and sturdy but not too expensive. This brace is only a little less comfortable than the custom fitted brace, is so much sturdier and a fraction of the cost! I'm very happy with it!

Was a little reluctant to buy this since I had no idea if it would actually work. Then I got it and thought “I paid $80 for this” but then I wore it and was shocked that it actually worked. Love it!!

This brace is awesome! I am a guitar player and I work with crafting and can do both with comfort and no pain while wearing this brace. It is on my left hand... my chording and guitar playing hand so it is invaluable! Since wearing it, my pain has been relieved totally.

Ok, just got my thumb brace from ohmyarthritis and yes it works. I”m an athlete, so it’s been very challenging with severe arthritis all over my body. I can still surf and ski but some days the knees are kind of challenged!🙄 The thumb brace protects the thumb in most situations, but will not work for golf, so I’ve had to change my grip. Also the had gets a little sweaty if I’m working out and leave it on too long.

I can’t explain the pain relief or the comfort that I feel now that I wear these grips every day. It’s the only thing that ever helps with the pain in my hand

I am a retired Physical Therapist, and have had CMC deterioration for years, but got to the point of needing either surgery or stabilization of some sort. I bought another brand that covered all but the most distal thumb joint, and found it very restrictive and not providing pain relief. I was concerned the small size of this brace may not stop excess movement, but IT DOES! Also, the strap does not wrap around the wrist, but the back of the hand which is must more comfortable and keeps the brace from moving every time you flex your wrist. I will be purchasing a second one to have on hand in case I get the straps wet at times. My hand measurement was at the “high end” of the medium, and it fits perfectly. GREAT PRODUCT.

I have arthritis in both CMC joints and have had custom orthotic CMC splints made for me by an occupational therapist. They were bulky and covered a large portion of my hands limiting movement and function of my hands. I also previously had CMC braces by Push which were very helpful and I had better movement than the custom ones. I bought this brace and find that it is equally comfortable as the Push CMC split and allow me the same movement as the Push CMC splits.

I have a very small, thin hand. I ordered a small and it dug into my thumb joint where my arthritis is. You cannot make an easy exchange. The website says "Free Shipping!" but does not make it obvious that you have to pay for the return shipment. You also have to go back in and order the new size from scratch. I have ordered a medium, because the small looked well made.

I love this for working out. I do HIIT training. Anytime I need to pick up a weight, grip other objects, or put my weight on my hands and arms (like with a pushup or a plank) this protects my thumb from pain when I'm giving my workout my all. It comes with a little liner, which I can take out and wash in a lingerie bag in the washer and hang to dry. And the brace itself is easy to keep clean. Also, it comes in a little fabric drawstring bag I can throw into my gym bag. Love this thing.

This thumb brace is so helpful. It takes the pressure off of the joint. Much less painful. Can write without extreme pain.

It really stabilizes the thumb when the arthritis flares up. Its small, portable, and fits very nice around the pad of the thumb that hurts. It puts pressure on just the right spot.

I have custom cmc braces for quilting and I wanted one to use when working outdoors. This is just as comfortable and supportive. Easy to adjust strap. Recommend for use when using hands.

So much easier, more comfortable, with more freedom to move your supported joint than the glove-like versions. Thumb feels so much better now! Worth the money. Easy to sleep in. My orthopedic doctor was impressed by quality and engineering.

This brace is a godsend. It helps me so much. It takes the sharp pain away and allows me to be able to independently do the things I have to do.

Im a chef and competative bodybuilder. I have over used my cmc joint occupational therapist said if i have to come back for therapy hes reccommending surgery. This brace has allowed me to keep lifting competing and cooking. This is my 2nd favorite brace its worth the money

I was wearing a larger brace for tendonitis, and wanted to try a product that was less bulky and highly rated. Having used the CMC Care Thumb Brace for several days, I can say that it doesn't provide as much stability of the thumb joint and it is super expensive for what you get. It is less bulky and more comfortable; however, I really wish I had tried another less expensive pharmacy-available product first. There is nothing about the construction that warrants this price point.

I just received my brace Tuesday 3/2/21. I love it! I first saw this type of brace in a show. This brace is magic to me, it allows freedom of movement, use of my thumb while supporting that painful joint.

This is everything they say it is and more. It gives support in just the right place while allowing y thumb and fingers to move freely.

I so wanted this to work, as it is less bulky than others I’ve tried and allows for movement. But it was too tight and cut into the web of my thumb. There was no way to adjust that part. Unfortunately, I had to return it.

I bought this brace recently and I love it. Shipping is fast, supportive, and comfortable.

I strained or sprained my thumb at the beginning of February. After a couple of weeks wondering if it would get better. I got this brace for the affected joint. A couple of weeks from when it arrived, my thumb is greatly improved already. It's still a little sore, but the brace is allowing it to get better.

The rheumatologist l have been seeing suggested CMC thumb brace for the pain I am having. The brace actually made my condition worse. The brace isn’t able to be returned and I wore it only 2 times. A costly mistake!!!

I had given up after numerous rounds of pt and several cortisol injections. My doctor had my surgery scheduled. I was not looking forward to it, the last time was disastrous. I saw this CMC Brace and decided to try one more time with a support device.. Wow!

I have severe pain in my right thumb. I was wearing a different brace for a month or two, it was helping a little but the Velcro caught on everything. The fabric covered and irritated my thumb. The CMCcare brace is so much better than the cheaper braces out there. I waited and didn’t buy this brace because of the cost. If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn’t have hesitated. I bought a pack of liners because I knew only having 1 would make it hard to wash and let air dry very often. I recommend both the brace and extra liners.

I am trying to avoid surgery on my thumbs. I purchased the right hand on (pretty expensive). It allows me 75% pain relief. I'll take that! My only complaint is, considering the cost, there should be two liners included.

For woodwind players who need to support their instrument with their thumb. This helps provide that extra support in the palm area without being cumbersome.

Expecting more relief than the 72.00 cost During movement in a task somewhat helps but does not offer pain free activity

For whoever this may help, I ordered this brace, and at first, the plastic was too hard to be comfortable. However, once I used it with the soft cloth that comes with it, it made a tremendous difference. I love this brace, and although expensive, there are very few braces for the thumb that allows this much functionality and support. The first few days, I had to stretch it a bit, figure out my comfort level, and the rest is history. If you are serious about pain relief and you need something to stabilize your thumb, I highly recommend this brace. Trust that I searched high and low, this is the best price for this type of brace😉

This brace has saved me from a lot of pain. I work assembly/production 10 hr days 5-6 days a week. Constant hands on all day. This brace is small, but hugs the lower thumb for joint support I need. I can adjust the strap for a tighter support if needed. I also purchased extra liners and straps. Easy to wash by hand, dries fast..used daily for work, shopping. Yes, this one is the most expensive but it works the best for me. I went through all of the cheaper brands, that is just the way I am. I came to this Company and Brand because I can purchase the brace and the replacement straps from this company. The best part is, it turns out to be the most effective and comfortable brace that I have tried. Which in the long run will save me money.

I use the thumb orthosis by push braces purchased at my hand dr's office and I got the CMCcare thumb braces as a back up. They don't seem to offer me as much protection or support and the velcro straps are definitely sub-par and will have to be replaced regularly it seems, but they are definitely a decent alternative especially for the price ($80 versus $200).

I ordered both a Medium and Large. My size was in between. Yes I read the returns was costly, but if I was going to spend $80 I wanted one that fit. I went with the medium. It gave the best support. When I went to return the large it only cost $3! The brace is very supportive and really helps. I went with this brace over similar because Velcro always wears out on braces and like it was replaceable on this one. I work at school so have to wash my hands a lot. This brace is great because I do not have to take it off. Will be eventually buying another so I can have one at work and home.

When it comes to arthritis pain, I tend to take a gamble on products in hopes of finding relief. Unfortunately, buying this did not pay off. It actually causes more pain in my thumb. I’ve tried padding it more and wearing it more. End result, bad pain. Oh well; not for me.

I am so glad my doctor showed this brace to me. It was truly one of my best decisions to order this. Any other brace I tried either rubbed my skin too much or made my hand too hot. This one does exactly what you expect it to do.

In October I got a brace for my right thumb and 2 weeks later ordered one for my left thumb. I have had many thumb braces, this is by far the most comfortable. I switched the plastic “closer” for the smaller one that comes with it. It’s less bulky. I’m a painter, the brace doesn’t interfere with making the tiniest brush strokes. Order the pack of cloth liners because you can wash one and still have one to wear. The liners help make this the most comfortable brace ever!

Really makes my thumb joint pain disappear

I found this by chance after figuring out my thumb pain wasn't going away. It had gotten to the point I couldnt sleep, couldnt really use my hand, it was bad! Tried injection, didnt help, so when I found this I thought I'd give it a try vs thinking surgery. It seemed pretty expensive for what I was seeing but I was pretty desperate. So glad I did. After about a day my pain was pretty much gone - as long as I was wearing it. I have had it for 4 months now and I wear this thing 23.5 hours a day. I can pretty much do anything as long as I have it on. I'm a 60 year old male who likes to build things, yard work, etc. It lets me do it all.
It has held up very well- I am replacing the velcro strap today for the first time. I have worn it swimming, and it did fine. I remove it to wash my hands and cook, that's about it.
Be sure you are buying this for pain at the base of the thumb- that is what it's designed to do.
Finally, I'm kind of cheap, so spending $80 on this was a leap of faith, but even though they probably make $79 on this it was still the best money I've ever spent. some times you have to look at the big picture.

I was skeptical at first but after wearing it for a week, result was amazing. The pain had dramatically gone down. I liked it so much, I ordered another one for my other thumb. Great product...

Was hoping the brace would cover down to the base of my thumb, which is didn't, so it offered no help at all with my CMC pain. Thought that purchasing the most expensive brace I would be sure of relief. Not so. This being the case, I cannot recommend it.

I have EDS and my hands are very delicate. I was reluctant due to the price and not being able to see it before. With the return policy, I decided to try one. I waited two weeks before I bought my second one! LOVE them!!! I’ve had them a while and I knew the Velcro wouldn’t last long but if you know how to sew at all there are many options!

This was the best purchase I have made. I've tried other braces but they never supported the area at the base of the thumb. This one is great.

This brace relieves the painful bone spurs needle-like pricking and throbbing feeling in my thumb. It was recommended by my plastic surgeon, that this brace was one of the best. I do recommend purchasing extra straps because they are hard to find in a local market. Also, purchase rhe foam inserts, it helps to avoid calluses.

I've had the brace for about a week and have used it while bicycling and found it helpful in reducing pain from road bumps and braking. It also worked well with other household tasks though it wasn't as helpful reducing pain while mowing. The liner is very helpful at reducing chafing. The biggest minus is that the price is more than double what it should realistically cost given the materials and design of the brace; $25-30 would be reasonable but $79 is quite excessive.

Thumbs up to this brace! :-) I bought this CMC thumb brace at the suggestion of my hand orthopedist. It works very well at supporting my arthritic CMC joint and it's not bulky. Plus it came with the little sleeve that pads between the brace and my thumb.

I love the CMC Thumb brace. I bought both the left and right brace. That help so much with my thumb pain. I do wish the zeal of straps and 3pp Cozy Liner were gray like the brace.

I have both of the above conditions in my right hand. I was a barber for 30 years and I'm a massage therapist,I also do a lot of coloring, At 68 I'm finally retiring from massage. After getting an injection into the thumb I wear this brace when I color or anything else that involves strain on the thumb and hand and it's improved the use of my hand tremendously without being bulky.

I had a device made from a hand surgeon that wasn't as effective as this brace. I am so glad I found your company?

I have tried a few other types of braces but this CMC brace has proven to be the best! It protects my cmc joint while allowing me to still use my thumb for writing, etc. Easy to put on, fits well and for the most part, I don't have to remove it to wash dishes, etc. I am grateful for the cloth insert to provide a little padding [it dries quickly if it gets a little wet.] Highly recommend if you have OA in the CMC joint.

Heaven! Purchased 2x for RH and 1x for Lh. Immediate relief. Pricey but so glad I found this.

I received the brace yesterday and have been wearing it for the last 24 hours. So far it has really helped the pain. I ordered this brace out of desperation because I've been experiencing a very painful RA flare up the last couple of weeks. I'm very impressed that the brace is helping the pain a great deal. With the 3pp cozy liner it is comfortable and easy to wear. 

I've tried several thumb splints. This by far is the best one. It's pricier but well worth it.

This thumb brace is amazing. I use one on each thumb joint. I did manual labor 15 years at a library. I did not want surgery, so tried several braces. This one does the trick! I can wear it and do about everything I normall do with it and it keeps pain at bay. I HIGHLY recommend!

I am a wheelchair transport driver. I have severe arthritis in my left thumb. When loading or unloading a manual wheelchair. All the weight from that chair and client yes brace on your two thumbs. I tried many braces. And nothing seemed to help until I tried your brace. Get immediately felt better when I put this on. The metal band is exactly where it needs to be to give me the added strength and protection of my thumb. The only problem I had with it. Was shortening the strap. Since I'm older. My close-up eyesight is not what it used to be. I did not see that both ends of the strap have Val Crow to secure it and all I needed to do was Titan strap on opposite end of rubber closure. Unfortunately. I made it much more difficult when I decided to cut off the extra in the middle. Absolutely, positively, the best product I have ever used for my thumb. I will recommend it to everyone.

I have had custom orthotic cmc splints for many years - they are very expensive to replace & require a long drive to meet with an OT for fitting etc. I learned about this product from a PT, bought two, and I'm never going back to custom! These are less expensive, very comfortable (expecially with the arrival of the cozy liners), and help my hand/thumb pain very much. Also, their customer support is very good.

I ordered these for my wife. Her thumbs have been killing her for months! I got one for each hand and they arrived last night. Only waited about 5 days to receive them. I adjusted them for her and put them on her hands. She was pain free, almost immediately!! Thank you! So much!! She slept through the night and didn’t wake up because of her hands! These braces are gifts from above!! Amazing!! I highly recommend them to anyone who has problems with their thumbs!!

I have been wearing my new brace for about a week and my thumb feels so much better! I like that I can still use my fingers! If you follow the directions of how to fit your thumb, it works! I highly recommend! I’ve used other braces but they never helped as much as this one!

I tried the thumb brace after my doctor recommended a large bulky brace and then surgery which I wanted to avoid. This is the best purchase I could have made! It took awhile to get used to the brace and I needed something small and comfortable so that I could hold a tennis racket comfortably. After awhile i got it to mold into my hand beautifully. Then you sent me the cozy liner Gratis which wasn’t available when I purchased the brace. Even better! I’ve recommended your product to everyone at my tennis club with the same problem! I’ve been using the thumb brace for almost two months and will certainly buy replacement parts (which my brace didn’t come with). Great product, highly recommended!

I am so glad I purchased this product, I had never seen nothing @ the stores like this. It fits so comfortably around my thumb where the pain is and is not stiff. I forget that I have it on and there is no pain whatsoever, It's ez to clean, you just wipe down the little bit of rubber ( spray it with alcohol ) and hand wash the little piece of cloth that goes around the thumb. Also the fact that it does not fit over your whole hand like a fingerless metal glove is so wonderful, like the one your doctor gives you or the ones that you find in the store. I advise everyone to buy this and see if it does not work better than the old fashion ones, you will love it.

This brace definitely provided CMC support and relief but it doesn't contour around my palm well. The plastic edge and strap bulge out on the opposite side of my palm and makes gripping things difficult. I'm hoping with use it will conform to my hand better. The liners are definitely a help with overall comfort.

Comfortable not bulky. I can still sew with it on.

I had my right thumb basil joint operated on and before the surgery they had me wear a brace and it helped for awhile. Now my left thumb is acting up . This brace is similar to the doctors and it works just as good.

This has been the first brace that actually addresses the exact point of my discomfort. It helps so much with the pain. Since it’s waterproof, I can wear it while I wash dishes too. The strap is not waterproof but if you buy extras you can switch it out so you can let it dry. It’s not bulky and allows your fingers and thumb to move around. I’m getting another one for my other hand. Great product!

I received my 3pp Cozy Liner in the mail this afternoon and immediately slipped it into my CMCare splint to see how it would improve the feel. This is just the best add-in to the splint! The Basko splint works wonders and was rarely so uncomfortable that I would take it off but with the 3pp Cozy Liner you don't even feel like you have it on. You have much more freedom of movement without the hard plastic of the splint digging in between your thumb and index finger. What a find!!

It seems to be helping. Its only been a few days. I had to do some filling around the thumb joint area, it was rubbing. I do recommend the 3pp thumb sleeve to wear under, mades a big difference in comfort. The velcro on the ban needs to be a tiny bit wider than the rubber closer piece. It scratches the back of my hand and is irritating.

It took a couple of attempts but I finally found a great brace that works for me for thumb joint arthritis. I like the slimness of the brace and that I can get it wet. Most of all I appreciate the great customer service when I needed to make a return. I was treated very promptly, personably and respectfully by Kay. I'm sure I'll be back for more products in the future.

Have had this brace for awhile now, but was unable to use it very long because it gave me blisters and/or calluses. The plastic is too hard, so it sat in a drawer, unused for a long time. Recently I was sent a free “cozy liner” and I tried again to use it. The liner did help, but I would suggest making the brace out of something softer and more flexible, such as silicone perhaps. I use my hands a lot, and the liner just got wet, and slipped about, and I would have needed to get a new one several times a day. The concept is very good, but the material used to form the brace, not so much. It will probably be going back in the drawer, as it was not too useful to me. Basically a waste of money for me. I was advised to have CMC joint surgery about 2 1/2 years ago, but I really do not want to do that. My left CMC joint is almost as bad, and I was also advised to have surgery on that one too.

I was skeptical to pay $80 for a thumb brace, but went ahead and gave it a try. Thank goodness I did. After a few minutes I felt relief and can use my hand again. I tried many others then my doctor recommended this one. Complete game changer. Also, I thought it was going to take forever to get to me due to COVID 19. But I had it within a few days. Taking a bit to get us to but it does what it says it supposed to do. Finding it to be very useful and not that uncomfortable. Anything to protect my CMC Joint the better. Prefer this to getting shots. After wearing it a while you don’t feel you have it on. Thank you and my Arthritis thanks you.

I like that it has just one strap (my other similar brace has two). It was easy to make the strap shorter. Thank you for including an extra strap for when this one wears out.

I have worn this now for several days and could feel relief after day one! Highly recommend!

Immediately felt relief from my CMC joint pain. Is comfortable to wear, not too restrictive. I had to add some molefoam padding to the inside part that goes across the thumb webbing to keep the plastic on the brace from rubbing. Best CMC brace I have used, definately best $ spent, wish I had found this one before wasting money on several others.

Somewhat frustrated With the product. I trying to figure out how it fits. The video doesn’t show placement on the thumb. It’s worried about the strap. But it doesn’t show where the plastic brace itself should be on the lower part of the thumb. What’s the correct placement not sure. Still wearing it to see if it helps. We’ll see

I have CMC in both thumbs, my right being worse so I ordered a brace to test it out. It's been a game changer. I was able to knit without pain so I immediately ordered one for my left thumb. I also like the fact that I can get this brace wet, as any other brace I've ordered I had to take off in order to wash hands or do dishes.

I paid higher amount for one prescribed by Doctor; and that one did not last. It lost it's "stick-to-itiveness" within a couple weeks. I have used this one daily for many weeks and is much, much better! THANK YOU!

provides good CMC stability while allowing full MCP range of motion- Second strap means you can do wet-work & change to the dry strap when done- I DO wish you would add a little piece of padding- silicone or moleskin- Wont cost you much in $, will win you a LOT of praise, & it will likely get you orders for more, as any padding does wear out & can get stinky.

As far as sizing goes with these...I’m female. My hands are long and slender. I’m tall and thin in stature. In regard to sizing on regular gloves ... work gloves: I’ve never fit into the smaller, typical female sizes, I’ve always ended up wearing the same size as my male coworkers. It’s due to the length of my fingers it seems. Cold weather gloves - same deal I’ve always fit better into the larger sizes. But, in these I was indeed a size small. Which was surprising but it just fit better. I have basil joint arthritis, both thumbs. This brace helps with the pain no doubt. This company impressed me greatly with their customer service and friendly, understanding practices. 100% satisfied.

I was having difficulty with my left thumb that caused pain if I turned my thumb a certain way. I knew I had not injured it and being unable to see a doctor in the age of this pandemic I went online for help. Luckily I found your website and ordered your thumb brace. The braces have given me a lot of relief. I did have to put some gauze underneath as it was rubbing, but easy fix!

The brace arrived promptly and was exactly as described. I used it the first day I received it for gardening in my Greenhouse. I was able to rake, sweep and put items away with less discomfort than I've had in quite a while.

This is my third thumb brace. The other two were from a different company and made similarly. I misplaced the other two and decided to give this company a try due to the discount which made a more reasonable purchase. I couldn't be happier as this brace appears a bit easier to type but write with as well. Not only does it come with an extra strap, but it offers more support with the strap on the back of the hand. Although I am presently confined to my home, I believe the pouch will help me keep track of this one. Great product which I highly recommend!

These are great for thumbs. Comfortable fit with adjustable and replaceable straps. That's the best thing cause you know Velcro doesn't last long on others you can't replace. Told a family member about them.

Using it for tennis. It helps . Tried to get my 10% discount on my first order but it would not work.

My wife felt that the CMCcare Thumb Brace was excellent. I bought one for my daughter I law and she agrees also. The brace does not cure the thumb arthritis, but it gives satisfactory relief of pain

I purchased the brace last week and I am very happy with it so far. It holds my thumb joint steady and I will purchase one for my other hand after another week or so of testing this one.

I measured my hand, ordered accordingly and brace is too small. Also painful because there’s no padding, I now discover the insert which would provide comfort has to be ordered separately. Very disappointed

The thumb brace is well made, however padding should have been included with the brace since the part of the brace that goes over the base of the thumb leaves marks on the hand. I know I can purchase the padding separately, but with the price of the brace, the padding should have been included.

I bought on for my wife because her significant thumb arthritis. her previous one helped was large uncomfortable at times and rubbed the skin. The CMC Thumb brace has been excellent. In fact I ordered one for my daughter in law. Of course, it does not cure the arthritis but gives symptomatic relief. Highly recommended.

I have an arthritic, enlarged base thumb joint. I have been buying and using one of the original brand braces for several years, but the Velcro does not last very long, considering the expense. This brace has great griping Velcro and, best of all, just the strap can be replaced with a new one so you don't have to buy a whole new brace! All of these braces are expensive, so it's much better to keep them working by just buying a new strap.

Having tried various products that don’t fit my needs, i was somewhat skeptical of this brace’s usefulness for athletic activities. But it was recommended by my hand specialist, so I decided to try it. I wore it for the first time while cross country skiing and was most pleasantly surprised: It not only provided the support I needed, but was comfortable. And it fit under my glove. This summer, I’ll be interested to see how well it works for me while mountain biking and kayaking.

Good brace, good price. It cuts into my thumb. I should have guessed by the video showing to put on gel pads ,that are not included. Still don't know were to get the gel pads. I have created my own pad to help with comfort.

It's nice to buy a product that does what it says it will do.

Adjustable plastic splint with inner metal adjustment for shape. It came with extra strap, but no padding. The not included padding was Needed to make it comfortable. So far so good.

Really helped thumb joint pain

The left hand brace made by this company is new to me. I have been using it this week and it works as well as an older brand that I used for years. The advantage of this particular product is that the band which holds it in place can be replaced thereby allowing longer use of the plastic brace instead of having to replace the entire device every 6 months at considerable expense. The one negative comment is that in the space between the thumb and index finger , the. Plastic isn’t designed as carefully to prevent pressure on the soft tissues during flexion. The older device I used from another company has rolled edges which reduce the risk of pressure injury.

I ordered a similar brace from a different website 3 weeks before Thanksgiving which never came. They said they were having supply delays so my Thanksgiving dinner was prepared with extreme pain from my CMC joint. Found your website and got fast, friendly, and professional service. My Christmas dinner was a breeze to prepare without having to call for help to open bottles, lift the roast, etc. The CMCare brace works extremely well; however, I'd love to see the hard rubber end of the velcro strap played down a lot. It's large, stiff, and catches on everything, detaching itself too often. If you don't reattach it quickly, the velcro attaches to whatever it can including my good sweater, pulling and ruining it. However, I wear it all the time and am functioning well. No one even notices I'm wearing it.

Works well

I purchased one recommendd by my doctor, and wore it out in less than a year. This one is better made, has replaceble parts, and it cost less.

It works but then when I take it off my thumb hurts again. It’s like I have to wear it all the time. If your hand gets hot it kind of smells. But overall it’s good

Care Instructions: Use mild detergent to hand wash or machine wash in a small mesh laundry bag. Remove the strap and wash separately; lay flat to dry.

Fits close to the skin. Can be used with gloves. Very good design and durable material. You don’t have to remove it to wash your hands. It dries very fast. I’ve had mine for over two years and it’s good as new. The Velcro strap shows wear but I still haven’t used the included replacement. Replacement straps are available if and when needed. Helps in thumb pain relief.

This thumb brace does help ease the constant pain I was having in my left hand/thumb area. For me, it works better when my hand is at rest. When I try to do things that require fine motor skills, it feels uncomfortable. The brace tends to "cut" into my thumb when I flex my thumb downward. I did measure, and chose the appropriate size(medium), so maybe it's just my hand structure. I will continue to wear it, and I wonder if padding it a little in that area will help.

 I just received mine today. I ordered it Monday and it came Wednesday. My Ortho doctor who is the hand specialist suggested this until I decide on surgery. It works better than my Mueller thumb brace and a brace made by physical therapists. With it, I have minimal pain when using my hand;. before this, the thumb was weak, throbbed and kept me awake. Since it is in my right hand and I am right handed, this will give me time to decide when to undergo the surgery...since its recovery time is weeks to months. The device is a blessing

My hand surgeon was very impressed when I showed her my CMC thumb brace. She tested it out and said it’s just as good as a much more expensive brace that she has recommended.

Good brace and love the replaceable straps. However, I use it while golfing and the thumbhole is cut symmetrically, which makes it push at the webbing area of the thumb, making it unusable. It will not work if you want use of your hand without causing pain. If the thumb cutout were cut with a slight adjustment like the good braces, it would be wonderful; as is, it us useless.

I love the brace it really helps . I measured my hand and ordered large . Wish I would have ordered medium because it’s just big enough for tab to get caught on everything . Order size down when I doubt . Otherwise it would be perfect and reall helps stabilize my thumb .

I put the brace on and got immediate pain relief. This allowed me to move my thumb with very little or no discomfort. I would give it 5 stars if not for the sharp edges especially around the thumb. After rounding the edges (sanded to remove flash and to round) it was more comfortable. For the price I would have expected that the edges would be more finished and rounded for comfort. All in all I would purchase again. Pain relief is more important than a little bit of sanding.

This brace keeps your thumb from being placed in positions that cause pain. You’ll get use to wearing it, and any small issues with fit, comfort and interference will diminish with time. I hope you can find the price in your budget somehow.

The brace itself is comfortable but, I need something that goes further up my thumb hold it stiffly, to ease the pain at the base. Very expensive, and unfortunately, it did not work for me.

I have 3 of these devices...I keep one in the trunk of my car in case I forget it on the way to a music rehearsal (flutes). I have 2 L-sided ones and one for the R thumb. I need to wear them very snug or I have pain. I'll have pain (lots of it) with any movement of that joint. But with a snug fit the pain is much less. I've gone beyond cortisone shots; they don't help me now. The last one just burned like a fireball and gave me zero relief.
As far as comfort, maybe I could add some pieces of moleskin to it, I have some but I'm too lazy to try it. Probably because I'm terrible at arts and crafts. All in all, it's been fine on my very painful L thumb. I have zero cartilage left in there (x-rays showed that) and it's almost as bad in the R thumb. Too much use I guess...too many notes playing my tunes. I keep putting off the surgery that's recommended .. But now I'm planning on having the surgery done next summer, 2020. I can't say enough good about this device..if I ever lost it I'd buy another quickly.

This brace works well. My pain in hand due to arthritis is less since been wearing brace. I can put off surgery thanks to this brace. I really like how you can write and do everyday activites. The only thing I can say negative about this brace it's very expensive.

I developed cmc joint problems several years ago. I am in my fifties and very active, so finding a brace that would help the pain and stand up to heavy use has been an issue.
I have problems with both hands, but one is much worse than the other, so different braces have worked out best for each hand. I use this brace almost every day on the left hand. My left has some muscle atrophy on the outer edge of my hand (opposite the thumb), so I prefer this brace because the strap running around the hand is softer than the rigid plastic that curves around the hand in my other favorite make.
The only shortcoming with this brace is that although you can buy replacement straps separately, you cannot purchase the Velcro closures separately. I hate having to purchase a whole new brace just because the closure has fallen apart. If not for that, this brace would be a good value, as well as a good brace. If replacement closures could be purchased separately, I would use these on both hands, all the time.

I just got the thumb brace today 11/4. I am wearing it now and I got immediate pain relief on my left thumb. Allows me to do my household chores and be able to function well as a nurse in outpatient ambulatory surgery center. No more taking ibuprofen/naproxen. Thank you. Highly recommend.

The CMThumb Brace provides much more effective support for the CMC joint then the larger supports that also enclose the thumb. This support allows the thumb to remain its natural position. This support allows me to play ukulele without pain or discomfort.

it has an adjustable velcro tab so it fits perfectly. it does support my thumb and minimizes the pain and discomfort. i am surprised though at the $80 cost.

I'm an OT and did a lot of research before I bought this splint. It works as it is supposed to and allows the rest of the hand to work normally. Got me beck to knitting and handweaving with much reduced pain.

Not sure if it is helping or not. Perhaps too much damage done before I got it.

Recommended by my therapist, this needed some adjustment with a heat gun to be comfortable for me.

Works good but a bit pricey.

This is a fantastic design and supports my thumb below the joint just where I need it and alleviates the pain. Other supports were too restrictive. This brace allows me to continue do soo many things and has bought me time so not to rush in to surgery. I recommend this to everyone who has thumb joint pain above the wrist. 

I tried several other brands of thumb braces trying to save some money, but they all had various issues (not enough support, made hand numb, didn't fit properly, limited range of motion, etc.). I finally splurged for this one, and for once the more expensive option was absolutely worth every penny. It fits perfectly, and there is no limit to my range of motion. It completely relieves my pain.

I ordered this brace with great expectations. I have severe pain from osteoarthritis in my right thumb. I had been using a Mueller brace with good immobilization of the thumb, but it is somewhat bulky and limited my ability to pinch with my thumb, such as for writing. I looked forward to the CMCcare brace because of the advertised characteristics and many great reviews. It does allow more use of my thumb for writing, but also causes some soreness between my thumb and forefinger and also in the lower outside area of my thumb. Maybe I tighten it too much, but must do so to get the necessary immobilization. I was somewhat disappointed overall, especially for the price when compared to the Mueller brace (~$10). Maybe I'll try adding the silicone padding offered, but I feel it should have been included, especially for the price of the CMCcare brace.

I haven't used this much yet but it appears to support as advertises. My stem cell doctor recommended it. Great customer service. The first one I got had a rough edge on the inside. Assuming from the mold injection process. I could have easily cut off the extra. But I sent a note to the seller about it and they shipped another one to me without questions. That is a rare thing these days, so if you buy from anyone, buy from these guys. I will say that it is expensive for what you get if considering only the materials, so you are paying for research and engineering. But anyone who has arthritic thumb pain knows it's worth every penny if finding some relief.

 I wear this to play golf & it really works. Not sure I would be able to play without it!

The mild arthritis I had in the base of my right thumb was exacerbated the the need to nurse my husband with 3x a day infusions and blood thinner shots for 6 weeks at a time for 2 different surgeries and my thumb was really bothering me, so I went to a specialist and she recommended this brace and it solved the problem completely. At the worst I wore it during the day, later only at night, and now, only occasionally.

This really helps me with painful thumb and this is less bulky than previous supports. I wish I could order extra straps for this because they are replaceable, unlike the more expensive PUSH brace.

This brace did what it said it would and helped to eliminate much of my CMC discomfort but after wearing it for a week or so I began having numbness/nerve damage in my thumb. I was VERY careful to not over tighten the strap in fact at times I thought it was too loose. I stopped using it and the numbness has lessened though not gone away after 4 weeks of not wearing it. Everyone is different and has their own issues to deal with so I would still recommend it but be aware if you develop this kind of problem. Too bad it was so expensive.

I am still not sure if this is the device that can help me. I am one year post trigger thumb release, CMC thumb joint replacement, Carpal Tunnel Release and still am in constant pain and have severe limitations. I tried this brace but it is way too rigid and actually I am working on breaking it in; I have a lot of pain and discomfort but am willing to wear this device while trying to do activities of daily living and will see how it develops on me. So not yet the perfect solution, but maybe something I can work with??????

I like this thumb brace because I can wear it at work. It controls thumb movement, yet it allows me to do my computer entry work and handwritten work without pain.

I got this for right thumb pain. It’s uncomfortable to wear and I have to take it off after a few hours. Haven’t seen any difference getting this.

I purchased a left and right. I was worried about the cost, but after one day of use, I am no longer worried. These have dramatically reduced my pain and increased my ability to use both of my hands. I wear them all day, and don't have to wear them at night because my hands don't hurt! These, combined with the Figure Oval-8 splints, have given me back my daily activities--gym, gardening,, cooking, ,cleaning, riding bike, etc. Have now used them for a week, and am just so pleased. The longer I use them, the less irritating the edges are (I think they are rounding off with wear). I do recommend the gel cushion insert.

My wife bought the brace for me in the hopes it would ease my thumb pain. The brace works well but the gel pad didn’t. Thumb hole is a little loose and not as flexible as I had hoped. Overall I would rate the brace an 8 out of 10 because it has help with my arthritic thumb.

 I could barely move my thumb and normal functionality was excruciating. This brace saved me from unnecessary surgery at this point and I am beyond thrilled it has bought me so much time. Excellent product for my condition & needs!

This is a fabulous brace. After having two surgeries on my left hand, I bought a brace to support that joint on my right hand and my pain has been eliminated. That means no surgery at this time for my right hand! This brace is well worth the money. Good luck.

Needed a left and a right. They were a big help till I had surgery on both hands. Right done in March and left done in June. I did use them again for awhile after surgery for support while doing therapy.

Got a right and a left thumb brace. These are really pricy, but work, Sometimes I wear them together or sometimes separatly. Depends on pain.

Three years ago I had severe arthritis in my right hand. My physical therapist recommended one of these and I wore it until I eventually needed surgery. (Unfortunately, I ended up with three surgeries on my right thumb.) Now I have the same problem with arthritis in my left thumb. I knew how well these braces worked and didn’t hesitate to purchase another one. I feel no pain at all while wearing it can do my daily tasks with it on. If I have to wear it forever to avoid more surgery I will!

It took a bit to get used to, it's also caused a callus on the palm side of my thumb. I need to add moleskin to the inside for comfort. But the pain relief is worth it all.

Gives good support to my thumb but I cannot wear it when using my mouse as it gets in the way. I had an injection that lasted a month and then some pain returned. The brace certainly helps alleviate that. I first ordered a medium but it was too large so had to return it, the small is a better fit.

It def a good brace but way too much however it did what I needed to do just wish it wasn't so costly! A++++ seller

I can hold a pen and write again, pick up things and open containers. Unfortunately I have no excuse anymore of not doing the dishes...! I have total relief when I am wearing the brace.

This brace has been extremely helpful in giving my thumb the support it needs to relieve the joint pain in my CMC. I was hesitant because of the high cost, but it has worked better than any over the counter brace, or even the bulky brace my regular doctor's office gave me

While this may be helpful for some people this did not work for me. The bone at the base of my thumb is enlarged and this is where my pain is coming from. When I tightened this splint to stop movement it hurt too much to keep it on. I had high hopes for this but will have to keep looking.

I have tried so many products for the arthritis in my left thumb pad. I used this thumb brace last night for the first time and was pain free. I would highly recommend anyone with the same problem I have, I would suggest you try this solution.

I've had injections that didn't work and thumb spica splints that prevent you from using your hand. This splint allows you to still function while giving support in just the right area. Fit is good if you measure properly. Expensive for what you get but cheaper than injections!

I am happy with the product except I could not wear for an extended period of time. the area between the thumb would get sore from the plastic.

The support this guard offers is awesome. It, along with inflammation meds, has provided me unimaginable relief. No more shots or bulky braces. However, the hard material can be uncomfortable. I feel a cushion insert should be included with the purchase of the thumb guard. I made my own but based on the price of this guard, surely the cushion insert could be included. Thanks for making a great product!

Reduced 95% of my pain immediately; my right thumb is the affected joint, & while wearing this splint I can easily twist my motorcycle throttle without pain AND without restriction in my range of motion!

For six months I have had thumb issues in the joints. 20+ years typing at work, weed eating, chopping wood or making kindling has put wear and tear on my joints. I tired a bowler's wrist guard but it was too sweaty. Once I found this I decided to pay the money and within 5-6 weeks my thumb is feeling so much better. I am no longer wearing it and I truly believe this product helped. It is so wroth the price!

This brace gives support just where you need it. Well worth the money! I wear it every day while doing chores, it’s not a cumbersome brace at all. It’s still allows movement.

This would be a great brace except the way to secure it via poorly designed velcro simply doesn't work. It is constantly coming loose, and flapping. Very disappointed in it, especially for the cost. If it wont stay on securely, it defeats the purpose.

I had a custom-fit brace made by the occupational therapist that helped with the pain, but limited use of my hand. This brace stays out of your way while keeping your thumb in the proper position to prevent pain. You can wear it all day, wash your hands, and do everything as usual with this one. It allows complete use of your hand. It even fits under a glove.

Good protector, but in my opinion, too expensive. I haven't seen another brace like this and if you suffer from arthritis or arthrosis of the thumb, it is worth the investment.

My husband wears this everyday at work and says he has no pain. If he forgets to wear it his thumb hurts by the end of the day. He is a physical therapist. He swears by this product.

My brace just arrived and it’s wonderful. I have very small hands and ordered a small which fits me perfectly. The pain in my thumb joint is finally quiet for the first time in months. I never realized that how common arthritis in the hands, palm, thumb was but this brace makes ALL the difference in the world. Prior to purchasing, my hand would ache at night and I would beg my husband to massage my hands. This brace protects the palm/thumb area and allows me to do pretty much everything I need including lifting weights without repercussions.

Occupational Therapist recommended a similar brace like this but this was cheaper. Demonstrated its effectiveness on the first day of receiving it. Thumb started hurting so put it on and ache went away immediately. It's also cheaper than the more expensive one with replaceable Velcro straps.

Although my OT took careful measurements it did not fit (too small)) when it arrived. So, I sent it back. I got a partial refund. The therapist wants me to order a larger one but I'm hesitant and so far have not got around to it.

This provides great support for my thumb. The Velcro does come undone from time to time. It has not been wet and I would recommend it.

I was hesitant to spend the money on this brace. Ive had one expensive one from the doctor that didn't help much at all. After contemplating for weeks, i finally ordered. I have a small hand, and a bit bony too, but the fit is perfect. I put it on, and adjusted the strap and have worn it ever since. The pain relief was immediate, and so much more function of my hand. I couldn't be happier. A very well designed and effective support. Mine came with a spare velcro strap and storage pouch. 5 stars!

i have been suffering severe joint pain for the past 2-3 months. I had no idea what product to buy and was afraid to pay 90USD for something that my not even work. I read through other reviews and finally decided to place my order. My measurements are on the cusp of Med to Lg so I ordered the Lg. The package arrived earlier than the original estimated delivery time, YaY! The large is a tad big for me and eventually I will order a second brace in size Medium. For the time being I will wear the Large, I have enjoyed immediate relief from the pain. As far as I am concerned this brace is worth every penny. I am concerned about the velcro since many people have complained about the strap - It seems good to me but it is only day 1. I will add a snap to the strap if I have any issues with the velcro strap.
Pros: simple, minimalistic, easy to use, and it works
Cons: sizing is tough to gauge

This brace really does help with the pain in my hand. I have CMC thumb arthritis pain and bone on bone. My physical therapist recommended a brace. I like this one and it helps relieve the pain. Doesn't get rid of it, but it's not as bad when I wear the brace. I work on the computer a lot in my job and now I always try to have the brace on. I've even ordered another, so I can just leave one at work.

I bought this for my wife who has arthritis in her hand. She will be having surgery for the problem, but when the doctor saw her wear this brace, he was impressed with what it does. He wanted more details.

This brace is great! I was dubious because of the price but it was just perfect. I am a 38 year beauty industry professional losing my thumb joints on my right hand and this is allowing me to hold brushes and dryers. Protects your tender spots and let's you work.

After dealing with decreasing ability to grip or hold item and with increased pain in my thumb, I finally saw an orthopedic hand specialist who diagnosed a growing arthritic malformation, cmc arthritis and subluxation of the thumb.He recommended the Push brace, but after reading the reviews of the Push and of this brace, I ordered this one. Right out of the package, this brace was very uncomfortable and rubbed on the protrusion at my CMC joint I had a piece of silicon gel and tried to pad the brace with it, but it didn’t provide enough cushioning at the protrusion. I finally lined the brace with Dr. Scholl’s moleskin and that provided a little more comfort. However, the protrusion was still rubbing. Another layer of linking made the brace too tight, I finally used a small square of the soft side of stick on velcro to add extra cushioning in that one small spot. Finally the brace is comfortable enough. I wear it all day and combined with the Voltaren topical antiinflammatory prescribed by my doctor and that I apply 4 times a day, the pain has decreased and I have not dropped anything since I got the brace. I do suggest that standard shipping be included in the price. I always check to see if I can purchase something using Amazon Prime before buying from a vendor and hesitate to buy anything if I have to pay for shipping. After receiving the brace and finding it uncomfortable, I did not purchase your silicon sheet because I did not want to pay shipping. I found another solution.

When it arrived, this brace was uncomfortable. I had read that a therapist with a heat gun could adjust the brace to customize the fit. I tried using my hair dryer on high to soften it a bit and rolled the edge that was cutting into my hand around the curve of a spoon. That worked well. Also, the inside of the brace was hard and pressed uncomfortably on my swollen joint. I didn’t order the silicon gel sheet because I hate paying for shipping and made an exception for ordering the brace. (Shipping should be included in the price, esp. in these days of Amazon Prime.) I made a template of the interior side of the brace from aluminum foil and then traced it and cut a liner from Dr. Scholl’s adhesive moleskin. Much better, but I still needed more padding on the boney protrusion, so I used a small square of the loop side of adhesive velcro just where I needed it and now I can wear the brace all day. With applying the topical antiinflammatory prescribed by my doctor and wearing the brace all day (and a softer one at night), my thumb has stayed in place and my pain has been reduced.

Recently started PT and therapist recommended the Thumb Brace to keep the thumb from collapsing. (broke thumb and wrist in July). So far so good. I think it may be a bit too big, since the thumb moves within the opening. But will let PT therapist tell me. Pricing is very good.

This does its job but the fit is a little awkward. It took me quite a while to figure out where to position the strap so that the brace nested in my palm like it should. And the point where the strap folds over on the back needs to be changed to reduce pressure on the back of your hand. It does it’s job but there are some fit issues.

I was leery to try this because it just didn't seem like much. I have had tremendous pain in the base of my thumb and had been wearing a bulky brace that I couldn't function in at work. I read the reviews on this one and decided to give it a try. I got it 2 days ago and haven't taken it off. Very low profile and comfortable and very effective. I have full use of all my fingers without the thumb pain.

I thought I had carpal tunnel, but those braces never helped my thumb. When my doctor told me it was thumb arthritis, he suggested this brace. It works beautifully to keep my thumb stable and relieve the pain.

I got a brace from a hand surgeon a few months ago, exactly like this. I thought it fit well until I ordered this one. I no longer have to wrap the edges with tape, to prevent getting sores. I would recommend this brace, I love it!

I needed this because I have arthritis in the base of my thumb. I like this brace better than the full hand braces with the metal strips. I don't have to worry about getting it wet and the silicone it is made out of is comfortable.

This is a great brace. It gives lots of support while having a small profile pn your hand. I find the strip between the thumb and forefinger is a little wide but it is easy to trim with scissors. It is a little pricy but it gives great support.

I bought this for CMC joint pain on the recommendation of a Physical Therapist. Years of repetitive use with garden clippers, shovels, rakes, opening jars had caused the joint to stay inflamed and painful. I tried different local store bought hand braces, but they were always too bulky and I wouldn’t wear them. This small thumb brace device is comfortable and it works. I wore it for six weeks, giving my thumb joint area time to heal, and it did. Now I only wear it when I intend to use my hand for anything that might possibly stress that area, and it fits nicely under work gloves. I can open a jar again! I agree with the other reviews - a beige/flesh tone would be a plus.

I had very similar thumb braces made at the physician’s office that lasted about 2yrs. The material started to crack & crumble. I suffered with pain for a couple more years & (don’t know why), just haven’t gone back to the Doctor. I was searching the Internet for ideas for pain relief & found this website. Ordered the CMCcare braces for both hands, which arrive quickly, and I was thrilled! Immediate relief! Amazing that this little thing keeps the thumb joint in place to relieve the pain & pressure. I also have a little more mobility with daily tasks than the very rigid Doctor made braces. These provided instant relief! And the material these CMCcare braces is softer/more pilable & I expect they will last much longer than 2 years. Only wish they came in beige/flesh tone so they aren’t as noticeable. Worth the cost!

Good product, helps immobilize my thumb

Ive had my brace for almost a year, and wash it nightly, then airdry overnight. I wear it daily when i'm doing things that a fabric brace would be an issue (watching dishes, gardening, etc)
My brace has held up well all of this time, without replacing velcro yet. It us reakly very durable

This thumb brace alleviated the constant pain and aching of my left thumb. Was trying it out before taking the drastic step of an operation. This brace in combination with a shot may cure or delay the need for a carpel tunnel procedure. Worth trying and worth the price.

This is my first brace. Helps give stabilization for key ignition cars & key entry house doors. I am an avid cyclist & it helps ease my pain during rides.

This is my second purchase because I lost the last one, and could not do without it. The brace is very comfortable to wear and immediately eases the pain from picking things up, painting and writing. I had one custom made for me at the Doctors, but it is not half as comfortable to wear as this thumb brace. This is easy to put on and take off and adjust, and much easier to clean than the one made for me.

I can now handle my computer mouse without the screaming pain. Thanks so very very much for such a fine product!!

I & do find it helpful. my only complaint is that it is that the hard plastic can cause a blister at the base of my thumb. It should be padded & then would be a much better product.

OMA: Thank you for your feedback.  If your skin is thin or your thumb bones are enlarged from arthritis, adding a soft, self adherent gel pad for extra comfort and cushioning can help.  One option is the Gel Mate® Silicone Gel Sheet (sold separately) on this website. It comes with instructions and a pre-sized pattern you can use to cut a pad out of the gel material. It is easy to cut and place into the brace for improved comfort without making the brace bulky.

Like the support and pain relief...Use to wash dishes, mow lawn, wash off and works like new... Purchased Feb. 2018. Wish I knew how to purchase online...I have a RX from my hand surgeon...So sad it is not covered by Medicare or Medicaid!

Only drawback is the velcro sometimes pinches the skin on top of my hand...but I can cross the velcro straps to help increase the pressure, do not understand why Medicare would not approve this device?

I have worn Push Metagrip braces for a couple of years and love the relief they provide. This is just as effective AND the single band is more breathable and so it is more comfortable. I also love that the band is removable so it can be traded out to dry with the extra that is provided

I have a drawer full of braces for both thumbs, but most are too big and cumbersome to wear during the day. I'm an artist so need complete flexibility and had given up on finding anything I could wear while working. But now my problem is solved! I've worn the left thumb brace every day, all day. It gives enough support but is so lightweight and small that I almost forget I'm wearing it. A friend said it looked like a fitness bracelet so I don't hesitate to wear it in public. I just ordered one for my right hand and I'm grateful to have found this based on reading reviews on Amazon!

I certainly would not buy it again. Poor quality and lousy fit. Large size is made for for people with small hands. Way too tight on the thumb hole. Stitching on lock end (where it says Basko) is
coming apart. Velcro connection on opposite end should have been reversed. It cuts into the palm unless you pad it. Seems like a lot of money for some thing so poor quality.

Better fit than others tried. Can hammer & do other hand demanding actions. Comfortable enough to sleep with them on. Strap design particularly comfortable- Use on both thumbs.

It does provide some support, but the fit is uncomfortable. Padding offers very little help.

Love this brace! The extra bands are perfect for quick changing when you get them wet or dirty. Comfortable and fast delivery!! Will probably order one for my Mom's arthritis as well. Won't need 30 return but was nice to have the option 😎

My thumb joint is pretty much bone-on-bone now. This brace really reduces the daily pain, and is small enough to not interfere with day-to-day tasks.

I have osteoarthritis of the basil joint, bone on bone. This product supports the joint which is great as other products, glove type tend to restrict thumb movement and then that would cause my thumb to hurt. I did need a little padding between thumb and finger, I read that someone cut it smaller, may end up doing that. At night I wear a thin hand sleeve under this, makes it more comfortable. So glad some one invented this. Just easier and less restrictive to wear. Now if they could make it in flesh tone, that would be perfect.

I been having pain on my thumb for almost a year i found a brace called push metagrip its a great thumb brace a little expensive but if its going to help my thumb get better it will be worth it. After 2 weeks the metal that's surrounding the thumb broke because i think its too tin. then i start looking around again for almost the same but more support i mean metal wise and then i found this product i was a little skeptic about it because of the low review but went ahead and purchase it this time i order large my other brace was medium And this one is way cheaper finally i got it in the mail was really fast shipping i was suprised the moment i open the box and wear it i litterally cried because the pain that i been having went away and im so thankful that i found this one i like how they made this they said its hard but for me its just right it support my thumb so it wont over extend. I like the fact that its a single strap were my other one is double i like that the metal sorrounding is thicker than my previous one and u can adjust the strap. By the way im only 38 and i found out that my thumb is already bone to bone the Dr was even surprised that i wore out my cartridge so early usually for Men is the age is 50 and for women is 40. I was 12yrs ahead but all and all im thankful for this product i know its not for Everyone but what do you have to lose by wearing this maybe its a little hard but for me i rather feel that than be in pain.

I've tried several of the lower cost ones which always had drawbacks. Because I have small hands and thin skin it required some alterations. I cut the area between my thumb and forefinger to make it less wide. It now fits well and I don't even notice I have it on. Glad I sprung for the higher cost. Highly recommend.

While these braces (I purchased one for each hand), recommended by my occupational therapist, are expensive, they're worth it! Due to arthritis over the past several years, my thumb joints had became grossly displaced and almost golf-ball ball sized. However, after wearing these braces continuously for over a month, my thumb bones are moving back into place and the swelling is greatly reduced. I have complete confidence that with sustained use, my hands will soon be back to normal - in both function and appearance!

Love everything about it. Avoiding surgery as long as possible. This brace has really supported my joint and decreased the pain. Just received another one for my left thumb.

My hand surgeon recommended I try this brace. It does seem to help. It was easy to fit, watch the video untill you feel comfortable cutting the velcro. I wear it 10-12 hours a day. I added padding at the top of the thumb.

My hand specialist recommended it to manage arthritis in the thumb joint, and it's making a big difference. Definitely get someone who knows to set it up for you, because it only works right after adjustment.

A little uncomfortable at first due to painful arthritis but with the addition of some thick moleskin it's quite comfortable now! I like that I have pretty much full use of my thumb as I'm a photographer and can use it to hold a camera lens. The brace comes with an extra strap plus the strap is totally adjustable for a custom fit. Very impressed with the unique Velcro strap end. Plus it comes with it's own little drawstring bag. This is the third splint I tried and my favorite. Nicely done!

easy to fit and does seem to help quite a bit

I got one for each hand. I’ve only had them for about a week, but I’ve worn them day and night. They help with the pain and seem to be helping with numbness In my fingers when I sleep. I take my right-hand one off for messy jobs, but that’s just because I don’t want it to get all funky or smelly.

This brace is the most comfortable brace I have worn bit does not interfere with daily activities, yet provides much needed to support which cuts down on discomfort. I liked it so much, I ordered another one for my other hand

Velcro doesn't work as well as we thought it would

I had trouble with the hard plastic digging into my thumb and side of index finger. I used the soft side of Velcro and wrapped it around the top of the thumb opening and now it’s sooo comfortable! The other minor issue was what several people were complaining about, the Velcro closing mechanism coming undone soon after purchase. I sewed on a large snap, cut the rubber name tag off, and now it stays closed. So with these changes (for me) it’s truly a fantastic thumb brace.

Don't really fit my hand and not able to bend the material to make them more supportive.

I received this a few days ago (well within the time listed when ordering) for basal joint arthritis. My brother uses the Push Metagrip, but that one was more expensive, and there were numerous complaints in the reviews about the quality of the Velcro, and the velcro on that one is not replaceable.

I ordered the Basko CMCcare brace because it comes with an extra velcro strap, plus it's removable, and it looks very similar to the Push Metagrip. The Velcro seems pretty strong. (Hint: I read somewhere that tightening a Velcro strap too much causes it to weaken, so I've followed that hint on the Mueller brace, and it make a huge difference)

It's putting a bit of pressure on the basal joint, so I've loosened it a bit. It's certainly less cumbersome, and gives me more range of motion in my other fingers than the old Mueller Thumb stabilizers that I've been using for the last few years, although I'm still using the Mueller at night. In order to fit it properly, I followed the video directions on this website, which were more clear than the printed instructions in the package. I did just get a cortisone injection in that joint, so time will tell. I like it enough that I just ordered one for my other hand.

This brace is an answer to my prayers, and does exactly what it claims to. It immobilizes the joint, while still allowing full movement of the hand and wrist. After 25 years of typing and using a mouse daily, my joint is worn out. I've tried other hand/wrist braces, but they don't target the correct joint like this one does. It takes away the pain, and allows me to do my job without hindrance. I also wear it when working at home. I was skeptical of this product because of the cost, but so glad I took the chance and purchased it. Well worth it.

I bought this for my wife. She has full blown fibromyalgia and arthritis and she was suffering with her left hand due to the 2 diseases so after I read up about this thumb brace I bought it for her. When she started wearing it she said she could tell a difference in how her pain levels had dropped after a couple of days. One issue she had (and is covered in the instructions that come with the thumb brace) is there was too much pressure on the web part of her hand so we removed it and I simply cut it back a little at a time and she would wear it to see if it was fine. It only took us a couple of small trimming's from the plastic and it was perfect then. She now loves it and wears it every day all day long and said she is glad this brace is working for her. I asked her if it was 5 star worthy and she replied quickly...YES!!! We're glad there is a product like this for those painful ares that can be difficult to treat so thank you CMCcare for making this thumb brace available!!

This is a great brace to use after thumb injections and to support CMC joint until surgery can be performed.

I was expecting it to be softer, like a rubber spatula blade, not hard like the handle. I've gotten a small blister from the inside of the thumb hole, but it went away later. All in all, a good product, it helps a lot with my trigger thumb.

OMA: We are glad you found the CMC Thumb Brace helpful for your trigger thumb.  Although theoretically the CMCcare may be worn for other thumb issues, it was specifically designed for pain relief of CMC Thumb Arthritis. (We recommend the 3pp Oval-8 Finger Splint for Trigger Thumb) Purchasing the correct size can be the key to comfort. The plastic used on the brace is intentionally firm enough to provide thumb support, but flexible enough to mold to your hand for a custom fit. I have been using the CMCcare brace for about two weeks.  What a difference!   As soon as I put it on, the pain lessened.  The arthritis in my thumb is mild but over-use (knitting) had increased my discomfort quite a bit.  After wearing it for a few days the ache in my thumb was almost gone.  I like that it is light weight and I can still use my hand to type, write, golf and even knit.  It is easy to get on and off and I do like how simple it is to adjust the strap and squeeze the stay for a comfortable fit.  I would really  recommend this splint for anyone with thumb pain.
